What is Kia Ecodynamics? | Premier Kia of Carlsbad

Kia Ecodynamics

Kia is focused on caring for the environment as well as its customers, which is why alternative fuel vehicles are at the heart of the design for new models. Whether it’s a hybrid, plug-in hybrid, or EV, you’ll find plenty of options for eco-friendly, efficient vehicles.

Going Electric

Kia offers the fully electric vehicle where you can bypass all the fuel stations on your journey. Since over 26,000 Level 2 public outlets have been set up around the country, charging your Kia EV model is much easier than ever before.

Buyers who choose electric can receive tax incentives from the Federal and state governments. An added bonus is quiet operation as you travel.

Kia Hybrid

While Kia is moving toward all electric models, they also feature hybrid vehicles for a combination of gas and electric. The manufacturer is adding a hybrid version to many of their models for an eco-friendlier option.

Hybrid vehicles are often the best choice for first-time alternative fuel vehicle buyers. They offer better mileage over gasoline models with a higher total driving range.

A plug-in hybrid offers the option to be all-electric or to use the gasoline engine for longer distances. With this option, you get the best of both worlds. Go EV on demand or choose whether you want to fuel up or charge your vehicle.

Today’s Technology

UVO technology enhances your ownership of these eco-friendly models. Use the UVO link on your smartphone to find charging stations close or to check on the current charge of your vehicle. The link also allows you to set your charging when you want it. Choose off-peak hours for lower electric rates. Adjust the climate inside the cabin through your smartphone. Remotely lock or unlock the doors through the app on your phone. Alternative fuel vehicles aren’t new for Kia. The first version was developed back in 1988 with the Kia Besta EV. Even though it wasn’t mass produced, the model did receive some notoriety as it broadcast live the 1986 Asian Games and 1988 Seoul Olympics.

In 2004, the Kia Sportage included the Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle, which would become the basis for all other electric models made by Kia. The Kia FCEV made a debut in 2008 with the Optima Hybrid being introduced in 2011. The first mass-market model was the 2015 Soul EV. Just two years later, the Optima added the Plug-In Hybrid to its lineup. More models followed in 2017 and 2018 as the Niro offered the Plug-In Hybrid first, followed by the EV.

Dedicated to reducing consumption of fuel, Kia continues to develop more models that fit in the vision for the future. You can find out more about this technology or test drive one of the models at Premier Kia of Carlsbad.
